Square Enix and Eidos Montréal looking at collaborating on new title
Now that Eidos Interactive have officially transmogrified into Square Enix Europe, it’s interesting to hear how the new relationship is shaping up around the globe.
Speaking at the 6th annual Montréal Interactive Gaming Summit, and wasting no time flying the Happy Families Flag, the Japanese gaming giant’s CEO, Yoichi Wada, revealed plans are in their nascent form for a collaboration between Eidos Montréal and Square Enix on what he refers to as, potentially, their “first development collaboration.”
Wada-san refused to divulge too much, or if the studio’s third game (Thief 4 and Deus Ex 3 are confirmed as currently in development) would actually see fruition. However, he did candidly state:
“It’s something we’re still just thinking about now but we’re in some very deep discussions. The project would require some very talented and creative people to step up to work on it, and we don’t want to go in half-cocked.”
Wada added:
“ […] but we absolutely want our first title to be developed in Montreal.”
Mark our words. This isn’t the last you’ve heard of this mystery title.
