Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix’s Unused Intro

Submitted by on Wednesday, 4 November 20094 Comments

SSFIITHDRUDON has done some really great artwork for the Street Fighter franchise and they just unleashed footage of their unused intro from SSFIITHDR.

While doing the daily browse on the Capcom Unity website, the interesting video below was stumbled upon and really caught our attention. It’s always neat to see aspects of games that were cut. Sometimes you can tell why certain parts were taken out, and then there are portions removed that would have just been awesome to see in the final product.

This intro though? Well…It’s hard to say. UDON kept true to the original version, but there is just something not right. Cammy’s laughable tongue movement is there, so it isn’t that. Perhaps it’s just the fact that Ryu looks a bit off, especially when doing the Hadouken at the end. He sort of looks like he’s surprised to see something coming out of his hands, and it just doesn’t look right. The Akuma art is amazing though, and really makes this unused intro worth watching.

What do you think? Was it a good idea that they canned this intro? Maybe it’s because of Chun-Li, but the video keeps getting replayed here, and who knows if that’s a good or bad thing (pretty sure it’s a good thing though). Either way, check out the video and leave us a comment with your thoughts.

UDON has some really amazing art, and if you’re interested in seeing more, check out their blog and their deviantART gallery. This one in particular is pretty hot.
