United States Air Force buying 2200 PlayStation 3s
Welcome back. You're a regular here, so why not follow us on Twitter too...
Sounds like you’re not the only ones in love with the PlayStation 3.
The U.S. Air Force will be ordering a total of 2200 PS3s very soon. But they aren’t buying them for a massive gaming party this Christmas.
No they will be added to the 336 consoles they currently have at the USAF Research Laboratory in New York to form a massive CELL cluster.
So what will they be using with the power? The massive cluster will be mainly used for research such as how to better process multiple radar images into higher resolution images.
And this takes us to a question just for you: What do you use your PlayStation 3 for the most when not playing games?

I tend to use mine for watching films. I have a bunch of them on the hard-drive.. plus I have lots of BluRays
Mostly movies, but also some music, pictures, living with playstation etc
playstation home, music, movies
Movies and music, with some internet and photos worked in. Just got PlayTV (only released this week in Australia) and reckon we’ll use it for this a heap – have been very impressed by that as well. Never got round to installing Linux so I could write software to process radar images though….
I find this rather impressive, but I wonder if the the 336 consoles already owned were on loan to the secret service recently? Perhaps they were reviewing AC2 insted of following presidential party protocols
