Sony sold 440,000 PlayStation 3s on Black Friday week in the US

Sony had an amazing time last week in terms of sales of their PlayStation 3 console in the United States, all thanks to Black Friday.
You may remember we showed you the amazing bundles being made available for purchase at various retailers on the special day, and they were reported to have sold out within hours.
Clearly a lot of Americans saw that day as the perfect opportunity to take the leap onto the platform and take advantage of what it has to offer.
According to VGChartz, Sony sold 440,000 PS3s – over three times of the amount for the same period last year (around 130,000 units) - which shows just how much of an impact the new updated console, price cut and fabulous games have made on sales.
What is also interesting is that the PlayStation 3 is the only console to have higher sales over this Black Friday week compared to 2008 – despite the recent recession!
Sony are set to have their best Christmas for a very long time!
