Bethesda capture RAGE publishing rights from EA
Further proof that Bethesda are positioning themselves as a strong publisher as well as developer of games, news hit the trades yesterday that id Software’s upcoming shooter RAGE will now be published by the ZeniMax company, ousting original publisher EA in the process.
Considering ZeniMax acquired id Software early this year, it’s little surprise to see the parent company exerting its control over its properties. That said, the deal between EA and id Software to publish the creator of Doom and Quake’s new game was penned before the acquisition.
RAGE hit the headlines this year regarding which of its console versions would be superior. After originally stating that the luxury of capacious storage on the Blu-ray disc would result in higher textures on the PS3, there was then suggestion that the 360 version would run at a much higher frame-rate. The ruckus was finally dispelled when id Software unequivocally declared that both versions would be comparable.
