New Final Fantasy XIII Screenshots – Meet Cid
With Final Fantasy XIII just around the corner in Japan, new pictures have surfaced and they look great. In these latest screens from XIII, not only do we get to meet Cid, but Vanille and her Eidolon Hecatoncheir are seen giving enemies the whoopin’ they deserve.
Cid has been staple of the Final Fantasy franchise since forever and there was no doubt that a Cid would surface in FFXIII. This rendition of Cid doesn’t appear to have any connection to airships, and appears to be an important enemy. This wouldn’t be the first time a Cid has ever been an enemy though, you may remember that in FFXII not only were there two Cid characters, but one was indeed bad.
Of course, we don’t really know much about anything regarding the story in FFXIII, so it’s highly possible that Cid isn’t actually a bad guy and he may have some relation to airships after all. Cid Raines can be seen in the pictures wielding a sword just like Lightning’s. Interesting…
In Final Fantasy XIII the summons are referred to as Eidolons (Like in IX, for instance). In these pictures, Hecatoncheir is seen with Vanille and they are really tearing the enemies a new one. Take note of the Eidolon in the screenshots. Not only can we see it transformed into its “Driving Mode”, but we can also see the button commands for attacks. It’s interesting to see that certain attacks can be done using different directions on the left analog stick + the circle button. Vanille also appears to be heavily into the action as well. As her summon is attacking, she is sitting on top of it pointing her finger guns in a way that is reminiscent of Liquid Ocelot in MGS4. Cute.
Hyped for Final Fantasy XIII? The game comes out in Japan on December 17th. Europeans and North Americans have to wait until March 9th. The wait isn’t so bad right? You may want to go on a Final Fantasy XIII blackout soon though if you don’t want to be spoiled by trolls.
