Final Fight: Double Impact coming to the PSN in April

Final Fight Double Impact logoCapcom has announced that Final Fight and Magic Sword will be coming to the PSN in one awesome retro gaming package, complete with GGPO netcode.

It was not too long ago when Capcom revealed that Cody and Guy were two of the six new characters in Super Street Fighter IV. It looks like Capcom is going to make sure that gamers remember who these characters are by releasing Final Fight onto the PSN.

For those unfamiliar with Final Fight, it’s an old school arcade beat ’em up. There are three characters to choose from: Haggar, Cody, and Guy and they literally beat everyone in their path to rescue a person named Jessica. Capcom revealed that they will be using HD graphic filters similar to the ones seen in Marvel vs Capcom 2. The best part? Drop-in online co-op!

Magic Sword was surprisingly revealed to be packaged in with Final Fight, and it will also sport HD graphic filters and online cooperative play. Magic Sword is a sidescrolling arcade game released back in 1990 and featured eight allies to play with, but you could only choose one to actually assist you. The game was pretty fun and had 51 floors to play through with tons of treasures to find. It’ll be interesting to see if this game is still as fun to play now as it was then.

Back in August of 2008,  it was announced that Capcom made a multi-game deal for the GGPO license so it can be used in their games. If you’re a fan of the netcode in Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, then you should thank GGPO for that awesomeness. Final Fight and Magic Sword will be making use of this seemingly lag free experience for all gamers to enjoy.

Capcom has really been doing a great job at putting their classics games on the PSN. In addition to PSone Classics like Resident 2, Capcom released a remake of Bionic Commando, a new retro-style Mega Man, SSFIITHDR,  MvC2, and more! While some of their titles aren’t really worth mentioning (Rocketmen, for instance), Capcom for the most part have brought us many joys in the form of digital distribution.

Here are some pictures of Final Fight and Magic Sword:

Are you excited about these two games releasing in 2010? What other classic Capcom titles would you like to see?
