PlayStation 3It seems like only yesterday when we were updating to firmware 3.10 (well, for some of us, it actually was) but it looks like Sony have more *ahem* wares for us with James Thorpe popping up on the official EU blog with news of a 3.15 system update.

First things first: it’s optional.

Second things second: it adds the following to your PS3.

  • Minis are now available for your PS3. Originally marketed toward the PSP and its UMD-less cousin, the Go, it makes sense that these new byte-sized games will now be available to play on the PS3.
  • PS3 Data transfer
For those of you with one PS3 in the living room and another for the kids who have been unceremoniously exiled to under the stairs, you can now transfer data between the two. What can you transfer exactly?

    James obliges:

Content such as games, game save data, and videos downloaded from PlayStation Network can be transferred to the new PS3 system and deleted from the current PS3. Other content, including personal media files (photos, music, videos), can be copied onto the new PS3 and remain on the current PS3 system.

The update is promised “very soon” with the likely candidate being this Thursday.
