Transformers: The War for Cybertron announced; no Bay in sight

Submitted by on Thursday, 10 December 20092 Comments

Optimus Prime Woah, put the hammer down! High Moon Studios’ new Transformers game “Transformers: The War for Cybertron” will have no connection to the recent Michael Bay re-imagining of Hasbro’s insanely popular robot franchise.

Published by Activision and from the studio who created The Bourne Conspiracy, the new game has everyone’s favourite mechanised protectors and overlords take on their more traditional appearances compared to Dreamwork’s more busier renditions.

They will also exist entirely outside a universe inhabited by Shia LeBoeuf.

Traditional yet not exactly the same as their G1 depictions. The Autobots and the Decepticons (who are both playable) will resemble their War Within comic manifestations. For an idea of what Prime looks like in this series, check the image above.

The game is touted as having a Gears of War type feel and will launch sometime in 2010. As long as there are no 360 slow-motion camera spins of people getting out of cars, we’ll be happy.
