10 titles to support the Motion Controller this year

Sony motion what 10 titles to support the Motion Controller this yearAccording to a report on Nikkei, the PS3’s Motion Controller is expected to have ‘10 or so’ titles support the device before the end of the year.

The report, which was picked up by Andriasang doesn’t name specific titles but does claim that sports and pet raising games are among the first to explore the device.

The Motion Controller, which will be hitting stores in autumn, had originally been earmarked for a spring released but Sony pushed it back so a wider line-up could be available to maximise its impact.

While ‘Pet raising games’ may not automatically read ‘bad’ (London Studio’s EyePet does have its charms), neither does it get us salivating like Pavlov’s dog. We’re hoping the Motion Controller has something more noteworthy to get us drooling.

What games or genres would you most like to see the Motion Controller support?

  • I hope they make an EyeToy: Play sorta game for the motion controller, they were always really fun :D

Aye – after picking up a Wii for family reasons about a month ago, and have high hopes for this, as Sony has a better track record on motion/body tracking than Ninty. Of course, I mean in a ‘fun to play’ rather than ‘overhyped and marketed successfully to clueless buyers’ sense ;) . I can say with confidence that Sony’s Eyetoy:Play (and this is the first one) is easily better, more intuitive and more fun than Wii Sports, and even Wii Sports Resort, while fun, is pretty shallow.

Further – Ninty’s tech is much, much less effective than you’re lead to believe before buying the thing, and the examples I’ve had of using motion controls in ‘core’ games is worse than the 6A implementation.

In short, there’s a lot of potential for Sony to really impress with this, although I suspect they’ve missed the boat to capture the broader non-gaming public’s imagination.

Oh, and Eyepet was brilliant – heaps of fun :D .
