EA shutting down servers to older games in February

Submitted by Delriach on Monday, 4 January 20102 Comments

Welcome back. You're a regular here, so why not follow us on Twitter too...

EA LogoEA isn’t wasting any time in 2010. It has been announced that a bunch of older EA sports games will no longer be playable online by next month.

Games having their online support pulled is unfortunate but it happens frequently. For the most part none of these games should be much of a loss to gamers.

Here’s the list of PS3 games getting their servers cut:

February 2, 2010 Online Service Shutdown

  • Facebreaker
  • Fantasy Football 09
  • NBA Street (2007)
  • NASCAR 09 – Europe Only
  • NFL Tour
  • Madden 09

Is there anyone that actually still plays these games online? We can’t imagine so, but we hope that from this point on EA will make some announcements that will actually excite gamers.

For the full list of games losing their online functionality on all other platforms, check the EA website linked below.

Unacceptable to me. This is also why online trophies should be grouped separately or something. It ought to be embarassing that EA would have to do this. All they need is one little sissy server to remain devoted for the three people that still play an old game every other month. ….UNACCEPTABLE….(I do not own any of the mentioned games; for the record)
