Front Mission Evolved coming in Spring – new trailer released

Submitted by on Wednesday, 20 January 2010No Comment

Square Enix has announced that Front Mission Evolved will be releasing worldwide in Spring 2010.

The latest game in the Front Mission series is doing away with the turn-based gameplay and is instead going to be a third-person shooter.

Developed by Double Helix Games, the game promises to provide “Hollywood style production values” and an “immersive storyline” full of conspiracies and combat. Front Mission Evolved will have a single player campaign and online multiplayer with a fully customizable mech at your disposal. If the options for the robots are anything like the ones in the Armored Core series, expect to be addicted.

This isn’t the first time that Double Helix has developed a game based on a well known franchise. These were the guys (and gals) that brought us Silent Hill Homecoming, which was a pretty good game, but it left fans a bit disappointed. Let’s hope that Double Helix adds inverted camera support this time around, a simple feature that was absent in Homecoming.

What did you think of the trailer? Do you like the new direction that Front Mission is going in or do you miss the turn-based gameplay that the series is known for?
