The Homerun – 28th January 2010; Heavy Rain, London Pub and more

Submitted by on Thursday, 28 January 20102 Comments

It’s Thursday and another Homerun: For news and views on the latest content to land inside PlayStation Home.

After the abysmal update for Europe last week, we’ll start with them this time and see if it’s any better.

Behind the huge screen in the Presentation Podium, you will find a door. So what can you find inside? A new space called ‘The Backstage Pass’.

But to truly discover what this space is all about, you will need to get through the security door. We won’t spoil what you have to do exactly, but we will say that a certain criterion has to be met involving a website…

So, let's start from the beginning...

Once you get through, it will become obvious that this space is all about Heavy Rain! Inside there is a special evidence analysis mini-game. This ties in nicely with the game which releases next month, and fans will want to win the reward at the end of the challenge! It can take some time to complete though, and some people may find the process a little tedious.

Meanwhile in Alter Ego, there is a bundle pack of 20 new shirts for both male and females. These shirts are another batch of the animated variety, and the pack can be purchased for €4.99.

Finally there is episode 2 of the new Home TV series in the Theatre that highlights what’s new in the online service – but if you read the Homerun regularly you’ll probably not need it!

Well that is a wrap for the European update. A lot better this week Sony, keep it up!

Right, now onto North America. Didn’t think that the London Pub would be coming your way? Well you’re wrong because Sony has released the space today for a price of $5.99. No longer will you have to fly all the way to England see the Houses of Parliament or have a pint in a classic London pub as you can now do it from the comfort of your own living room – well sort of.

With humorous taps and a darts board, the space is bound to keep you entertained when your friends come along with you.

The Assassin’s Creed 2 ‘Battle of Forli’ DLC is out today, and to celebrate, for one month you can get your free Ezio costume from the Mall. The costume is full of win and will without doubt make you stand out from the crowd. Plus, if you pre-ordered BioShock from, you can now unlock your Big Daddy costume!

Fancy wearing this?

There are also some events to check out in North America for MAG, and new furniture for the Paris Clock Tower personal space.

Pick of the Week: Well for Europe, it can only be one thing… the Heavy Rain space! With a cool mini-game and for no price tag, you can’t go wrong. North America on the other hand, we recommend the London Pub but there isn’t really anything else that significant in the update anyway.

Well there we have it. It is both a relief and delight that Europe has some decent content this week, and long may it continue! North America is still keeping the pace though, and that trend will probably never end.
