Slingbox application coming to the PS3
Last week we heard about BRAVIA Internet Video Link coming to the PS3 this year. Today we hear about another video streaming service in the form of Slingbox.
It has been announced that a Slingbox application is coming to the PlayStation 3 sometime in the future.
What this will allow you to do is stream TV content from your Slingbox over the Internet onto your PS3 system.
So if you have cable or satellite TV in one house, but have your PlayStation 3 in another, you will still be able to watch your favourite programmes without buying another subscription.
The Sling Player has already been made available for some mobile phones such as the iPhone or iPod touch.
Slingboxs can be purchased from around $160/£100/€200, so although this application is likely to be free, it will still cost you substantial money to purchase the actual box if you don’t own one already.
Obviously the Sing Player has more use when on the move, but it is great to see Sony active in putting more online content at the fingertips of PS3 owners.
But we doubt that this news will make all the people waiting for PlayTV in North America completely satisfied though.
