Tekken 6 online co-op update is live – now with impressions!
When the campaign mode for Tekken 6 was first revealed everyone thought that playing with a friend would be available right from the start. Shortly before the release of the game, Namco announced that the online co-op would be patched in post-launch.
With this 16MB update players will finally be able to have a competent partner that can actually be someone other than Alisa. Grinding for fight money should be a lot more enjoyable now, and might make Scenario Campaign mode worth playing through again.
Fans will also be pleased to know that Mokujin now changes fighting styles after every round when playing online. This was one of our complaints in our Tekken 6 review and it’s great to know that Namco is listening. Hopefully more fixes are on the way to further improve the game.
For some reason, only 10 levels are playable online. The scenario campaign mode is also significantly more difficult when playing co-op and the enemies are not the same as before. So far lag hasn’t been an issue at all and the game felt like playing offline when at 4 bars. The mode itself works exactly the same as before but it’s incredibly hilarious to play now. When playing with a friend there were so many brutal looking accidental combos done, it really made the whole experience a lot more enjoyable.
If you didn’t like the Scenario Campaign mode, this most likely won’t change your opinions on it, but you might want to give it another shot with a buddy. You just might find yourself laughing non-stop as you get brutalized by a bunch of bears. It’s a bit disappointing that you can’t play through the whole campaign story but this is more than sufficient and it’s free.
