90-minute Darksiders demo hits the PSN on February 25th
THQ obviously wants gamers to buy Darksiders. They are hoping that by releasing a large chunk of the game as a demo, players will be hooked by everything it has to offer and then they’ll buy it.
The demo features the entire Twilight Cathedral. This is the first dungeon of the game, and it contains puzzles, new equipment, and boss battles.
“We are really pumped to be bringing a playable demo for Darksiders to Xbox 360 and PlayStation3. We really wanted to give gamers a true idea of the variety of gameplay that the game offers and so rather than just making a standard 20-minute demo version of the first few levels, we decided to give away this massive level and reveal the true essence of the game.” – David Adams, General Manager of Virgil Gamers
Some demos for games can last up to a few minutes. Releasing a demo that allows you to play through an entire section of the game that lasts for over an hour is a pretty big deal. It will be interesting to see if this type of marketing will translate to more sales.
