Christer Ericson has confirmed, via Twitter, that God of War III won’t require a mandatory install.

Ericson is Director of Technology at Sony Santa Monica, the team behind the brutally gory, but exhilarating action-adventure title.

This will come as good news to those short on space on their hard drive, and for anyone who finds waiting for an installation excruciating.

Ericson tweeted:

“GoW3 uses the standard HD cache, no extra space required. No install. Only 5MB for save games.”

The news came by way of CVG, who remind us that Bayonetta had originally went without a mandatory install only to add one later in order to counter terrible loading times.

We at PS3 Attitude welcome not having to use up our valuable hard drive space, but if it means long delays getting in the way of us hacking and slashing our way through Greek mythology then that’s another matter…
