Heavy Rain getting motion control update?

heavy rain norman jayden Heavy Rain getting motion control update?David Cage, CEO and founder of Paris-based developer Quantic Dream has revealed that Heavy Rain was initially designed to incorporate motion control.

In an interview with Dagbladet.no (translated via MTV Multiplayer), Cage claimed the game still had leftover code from the initial stages of development and suggested we stay alert for an announcement over the coming weeks.

Could it be anything other than an update for Heavy Rain which will see the game supporting Sony’s upcoming Motion Controller?

Cage appears to suggest Quantic Dream had expected Sony to have its Motion Controller on sale by now, but delays had forced the developer to change direction. Several of the QTE moments have you using the thumbstick in a way which mimicks your characters movements, which would be an ideal fit for the Motion Controller.

“The very first version of the game design was based on motion control, but it was not feasible at the time. But all the controls of the final version of Heavy Rain is still based on motion.”

“I have a lot of interest in Sony’s motion device and there is a good chance that we announce something about it in the coming weeks,”

The Motion Controller is not due out until this autumn and Sony still haven’t announced its official title, but rumoured titles Arc and Gem are still being banded around.

Whatever it ends up being called, it seems a dead cert Heavy Rain will use it.
