LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars announced
Will the Force be strong with this one, or are LucasArts flogging a dead Wookie?
The LEGO Star Wars games have been a phenomenal success, selling over twenty million copies worldwide. This fact seems to have spurred on LucasArts and TT Games to keep the ball rolling and delve into the latest piece of the Star Wars canon.
In a recent press release they had this to say;
LEGO® Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will include all the characters from both seasons of the hugely popular animated television series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as well as some fan-favourite characters from the beloved theatrical Star Wars Saga. The game will feature brand new battle modes, giving players unique, head-to-head combat and an upgraded level builder, allowing the creation of customized bases and in-game battlefields.
Play either as a Jedi or Separatist with all-new character abilities, such as Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks and Grapple Tie-Ups, all within a new, easy-to-navigate hub.
This is going to sound overly harsh, but we are struggling to get very excited about this one. In the last five years we’ve had;
- LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game
- LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
- LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
- LEGO Batman: The Video Game
- LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures
- LEGO Rockband
And with LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 due out later this year, it seems that we have complete LEGO overload.
You also have to take into account that The Clone Wars isn’t as well known – or liked – as the original six movies. So can LucasArts overcome this?
And niggling away in the back of our minds is a little voice saying “surely funds would be better off updating certain other franchises – such as Star Wars Battlefront”.
So PS3 Attitude readers, can you help us get motivated for another block-fest?
