Level-5 working on unannounced PS3 games
Earlier this month it was revealed that Level-5, the developer behind games such as Dragon Quest VIII, Dark Cloud, and White Knight Chronicles, is working on unannounced games for the PS3.
Level-5′s CEO, Akihiro Hino mentioned that the company is working on new games during a recent Q&A session. If you are unaware, Level-5 does not only develop for Sony platforms. Here is what Hino-san had to say during the event in Tokyo:
“We’re currently producing titles for PS3, Wii and so-forth. (The format, etc.) are unannounced, however (laughs). However, we develop for the DS because we determined that it was the most suitable machine to put out a new title. We’ve been researching and developing for consoles, but when making a product under our own brand, we must make sure that it is ‘a product with a chance of success.’ I believe we’ll soon be able to announce a new console title.”
It has already been announced that Level-5 is currently developing White Knight Chronicles 2. However, it seems like the CEO is talking about titles published by the company itself. What could these games be? Your guess is as good as ours. Regardless of who publishes their games, let’s hope that Dark Cloud 3 is in development.
It appears that Level-5 plans to expand by forming a company in America. This would make it much easier to publish games outside of Japan.
White Knight Chronicles releases this week in Europe. If you’re still on the fence about the game, check out our review. You might be pleasantly surprised.
