Pick up any video game these days and the likelihood that the main character is a white male is pretty high. With February being Black History Month, we’re taking a look at the depiction and evolution of African Americans in video games.
Where did the origins of African American characters in video games begin? Is their depiction considered stereotypical or even racist? All these questions and more will be discussed.
Unforgiving. Tense. Subtle. Light Weight’s seminal one-on-one fighting classic Bushido Blade was many things.
What it wasn’t, however, was just another run of the mill beat ‘em up along the traditional lines of the Street Fighters and Tekkens of the brawling world.

In a society where gamers expected the latest in 3D graphics and technology, there stands one game that returns to the classic pixelated times of old, sorta. We were given the opportunity to experience 3D Dot Game Heroes in all its glory, and we we’re quite impressed to say the least.
Our demo began with a quick look at the character editor and the many wonderful creations you can dream up. Our guide made a quick pixelated version of the lovable Domo-Kun sans body and arms. Right away we could tell that this was going to be awesome…
We think the vast majority of you have heard of Bobby Kotick. Through various statements he has set himself up as the evil villain of the games industry.
His most notorious, and most frequently discussed quote is “The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games.”
Boo hiss! But can a Leopard change its spots?
Capcom’s MotoGP 09/10 will be hitting North America on 16th March.
The motorcycle racer will feature 17 official circuits, and all the riders and teams from the 2009 MotoGP season. Capcom have promised gamers free downloadable content as the 2010 season unfolds insuring the game stays up-to-date.
The last MotoGP was a fairly underwhelming affair, attractive to only aficionados of the sport. Can Capcom’s second attempt at the franchise prove more successful?
Before the launch of the PS3, Sony was touting Blu-ray as the way forward, and DVD as the wrong format for true current gen games.
Has time proven them right? Judging by Capcom’s reaction, we think yes.
White Knight Chronicles (International Edition) is a Role Playing Game developed by the brilliant minds at Level-5. Expectations are very high and it’s for a good reason. Level-5 are the developers behind great games such as Dark Cloud, Jeanne d’Arc, and Dragon Quest VIII.
In Japan, White Knight Chronicles was originally released on Christmas day in 2008. It took over a year to localize the game and many improvements have been made since its initial release.
PS3 owners have been waiting impatiently for the arrival of an epic JRPG from an established studio. Is the latest effort from Level-5 the white knight that fans have been waiting for?
Capcom managed to sneak an Easter Egg into the Resident Evil 5: Lost in Nightmares episode that was just released.

Lot of deals this week. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is on sale and tons of Ubisoft products have been reduced in price as well.
There are three PSone Classics and they are: Magic Carpet, Mass Destruction, and Sorcerer’s Maze. Yeah… moving on.
We also got two demos this week. One for Yakuza 3 and one for SEGA All-Stars Racing.
There’s tons of DLC again. Lost in Nightmares for Resident Evil 5 and Sequence 13 for Assassin’s Creed II are the highlights.

Team Attitude are firmly against piracy. It hurts developers both big and small, and the effects can even be felt by the consumers.
It seems Sony is taking a stand against piracy with a new initiative – but fans of second hand games aren’t going to be happy.
A fair few people rejoiced when SEGA unvieldSonic 4 as an old skool 2D platformer – but if certain websites are to be believed, Sonic Team aren’t actually developing it. Have SEGA finally had enough?
Eagle eyed shoppers noticed today that an online retailer was shifting its unsold copies of the PS3 version of Tony Hawk’s Ride for £15 – a grand total saving of £85 off the rrp.
Maybe Activision should be rethinking the planned sequel?
Grand Theft Auto is one of the most iconic and most talked about franchises in gaming. In fact, it is one of the most talked about across the entertainment industry.
It has also been one of the top controversial franchises of the last decade, from the infamous Hot Coffee mod in San Andreas, to the general portrayal of sex, drugs and violence.
It arrived onto the PS3 and Xbox 360 as one of the most anticipated games of all time.
Capcom is gonna take you for a ride! Starting tomorrow, there will be a Capcom game on sale for 50% off the original price. The first game to go on sale? Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
