Sonic the Hedgehog 4 officially announced
Welcome back. You're a regular here, so why not follow us on Twitter too...
It has been a long time coming but the real name for Project Needlemouse has finally been revealed. It’s time to welcome back an old friend with open arms.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 will be the first of many Sonic games to be released on the PSN. The series is going back to its roots and the game will take place right after Sonic and Knuckles.
According to a Gamespot interview, all of Sonic’s moves from back in the day are still intact and a new homing attack has been added. The game will also have SIXAXIS support for some odd reason. It’s unknown right now what the SIXAXIS will do, but let’s hope it doesn’t mess up the gameplay.
The Sonic 4 website is now up and running and there are countdowns everywhere! It’s also interesting to note that there is still one more platform that the game will be releasing on and it hasn’t been revealed yet.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 is set to release in the summer of this year. You may now proceed to squeal like an excited little school girl.

Finally. I believe a 2,5D Sonic sequel is just what the franchise needs after a long period of experimentation with 3D material, all of which have been considered massive failures by the gaming community. I’ve wanted more high speed side scrolling loops for over ten years now!
Been a long time coming I can’t wait although I’m a bit disapointed with this episodic content. I’d rather download the whole game than wait for the next episode of a Sonic game.
I’m feeling elated, and yet slightly annoyed. I’m so glad that Sonic is going back to his routes, but why must it be in episodic format? I just want a complete game please. I get the feeling that these episodes could be priced at the high end of the store as well.
Well, Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles were pretty much episodic content so it’s not a exactly foreign concept for the franchise.
While we don’t know how long each episode will be, it’s likely that they will be as long as the old school games… hopefully. Plus it gives SEGA time to actually develop the games and listen to feedback after the first one is released.
I just want Sonic 4, and if it is awesome… I want more Sonic 4
Aye, brilliant news – fingers crossed for a brilliant return to form
