God of War III has Titan sized budget
We recently reported a run down of the top ten most expensive games ever made. The list featured quite a few PS3 games – but will God of War III be joining them?
The game comes in at a cool $44 million. That’s $1 million less than Killzone 2, so God of War III doesn’t even crack the top ten list.
Bearing in mind the scope and scale of the game, and the amount of enemies on screen at once, we find it incredible it’s not flying high towards the top end of the list.
In an interview with Giant Bomb, Director of product development for Sony Santa Monica, John Hight, had the following to say;
“We are stamping discs now, so we’re effectively done. Just got a couple of countries that we’re finishing up on this week and we spent $44 million to make God of War III. Believe it or not, that’s right within budget.”
He then went on to make a few comments about the scale of true current generation games;
“We finished up God of War II with roughly 60 people which was more than double God of War I and now we’ve finished off God of War III with 132 people.”
We definitely feel that this was money well spent. The review embargo ended yesterday and so far the comments are outstanding.
The PS3 Attitude boss man himself – DolphGB – is currently in the process of writing our review of the game. We don’t want to give too much away but shouts of “Z.O.M.G” have been heard reverberating around Attitude Towers for the last couple of days.
