Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light announced
Crystal Dynamics has announced the latest title in the Tomb Raider series, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. The game is scheduled for a 2010 release and will be downloadable, rather than a full blown retail disc.
It appears that Lara is being demoted and losing her Tomb Raider status as it is nowhere to be found in her next adventure.
Attendees to this year’s Game Developers Conference will have an opportunity to check out the game “behind closed doors” but for the moment, not much information is being released.
“This is a really exciting project for Crystal Dynamics, we have created something completely new and very different to what people might be expecting,” said Darrell Gallagher, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics. “Lara Croft is such an iconic character in videogames, with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light we have created what we believe is a truly original digital experience.”
We can only hope that this new direction for the Tomb Raider series is for the better. What exactly could it be? We’re not sure but our sixth sense is telling us that multiplayer is a high possibility.
For now, Lara’s official website has launched where you can register for a newsletter and that’s about it. The site also suggest that you follow them on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates. We’ll be sure to bring you more news of Lara’s latest adventure when we find out.
