FirstPlay Friday – week four

Submitted by on Friday, 30 April 20104 Comments

Well it’s finally here.  We’ve waited, gone through BETA tests and waited some more – now FirstPlay is upon us.

But is it worth your money?

Well that is where PS3 Attitude comes in.  Over the course of the next few weeks we will be doing a weekly rundown of the latest FirstPlay episode – so you can decide if it’s something that takes your fancy.

It will also give you the chance to see how the brand evolves over time as the FirstPlay team hit their stride.

For those who don’t know, FirstPlay is essentially an interactive magazine.  HD video previews and reviews are standard fare, as well as PSN and PlayStation Minis rundowns, lashings of upcoming games screenshots and of course, a downloadable treat or two – with voice over’s done by comedienne Lucy Porter.

You can buy a three month subscription for £8.99, or alternatively you can buy a single episode for 99p.

Each episode is broken down into several segments featuring various games/films – which we will cover here.

Featured Downloads

This week’s downloads are;

  • FirstPlay PS3 theme
  • Exclusive FirstPlay parachute for Just Cause 2

Without wanting to be negative, it would be nice to get something new in the downloads section next week.

Network Highlights

How to win at Super Street Fighter IV Part 1- A brief rundown of the best moves and tactics to employ when using some of the new additions to the game.

LittleBigPlanet best levels – Some more of the best user created content, you talented devils!

Best of PSN –

  • Mega Man 10
  • Revenge of the Wounded Dragons
  • Dragon Age Origins: Awakening
  • Switchball
  • Dissidia Final Fantasy

Minis Roundup – Still a very useful feature, as there are a lot of hidden gems on the PSN!

  • Fortix – Addictive looking puzzle game.
  • Bloons – Looks like a fun, old skool puzzle game.
  • Ice Road Truckers – Sigh.
  • Rocket Racing – Looks like a contender for most the frustrating game ever.
  • Tetris – Hmm…Never heard of this before.

HD Reviews and Previews

Gran Turismo 5 – Some gorgeous looking trailers, but didn’t show anything particularly new.  The game does look amazing though – can we have it please?

PlayStation Move Feature – A rundown of some of the games that will be on offer.  Really doesn’t do the Move justice as the feature is full of party games.  Come on Sony; show us what it can really do.

Alpha Protocol Preview – Looking fantastic, and very in-depth.  Fans of customisation won’t be disappointed.

Medal of Honor Trailer – This has been knocking about for a while now, but it’s looking like every bit the Call of Duty killer.

Next Week

The fantastic looking ModNation Racers, and the God of War Collection.
