The Independent newspaper releases top 50 games list – and confuses itself in the process

independent e1270105174848 The Independent newspaper releases top 50 games list and confuses itself in the processTeam Attitude has no problem with lists – they are normally a sure fire way to get people talking, even if they don’t necessarily agree with what has been put down.

However, we do prefer it if the list makes actual sense.  On that note, step forward The Independent newspaper who has recently released a ‘top 50′ games list - in at number twenty two is the Wii Remote Charging Stand.  Wait, what…?

Yes we know what today’s date is – but this is most definitely not an April Fools.  The list is a bit of a shambles and resembles more of a 50 page advert than a piece of gaming journalism.

There seems to be no discernible order to the games – at least we hope not, as that would mean the ‘A40 Audio System (Headphones)’ is a better game than Heavy Rain.

In fact, that’s what annoys us most.  Yes there are some random games in there, but at least they are games and not controllers or keyboards.

A bit of clarity would also have been nice in terms of the title.  Top 50 games?  Is that ever, or of the last few years?  We ask because DJ Hero is in there, but no Half Life, and Guitar Hero is there too, but no Final Fantasy 7.

Representing the PS3 on the list were the following;

  • Heavy Rain
  • God of War III
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
  • Flower
  • Demon’s Souls
  • Singstar: Mowtown
  • The PS3 Wireless Keypad (Sigh)

Check out the list for yourself – are we being too harsh?
