Marvel vs. Capcom 3 officially announced, details emerge
It’s official, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is real and it looks glorious! OK, we haven’t seen actual gameplay yet, but nobody hypes a game better than Capcom and this trailer has definitely made the internet explode with joy.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds currently features roughly 30 characters but that number will increase as development progresses. The graphics are similar to what you would find in Tatsunoko vs Capcom for the Wii but with a slight touch of Street Fighter IV ink effects. The characters are modeled in 3D this time around but gameplay will remain on a 2D plane.
Interestingly enough, the MT Framework engine is being used for this game and not the one used in Street Fighter IV. This is the same engine that powers Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil 5 and many other Capcom releases this generation.
Marvel vs Capcom 3 is expected to hit store shelves in the Spring of 2011.
Confirmed characters so far:
- Iron Man
- Chris Redfield (RE5)
- Ryu (Street Fighter)
- Morrigan (Darkstalkers)
And just because the trailer is so awesome, here it is again:
You’ll notice that at the beginning of the trailer there are silhouettes of Capcom and Marvel characters. Can you make them all out? Some are obvious, like Chun-Li. The others though? Your guess is as good as ours. On the Marvel side it looks like we might get Deadpool as a playable character if that sword is any indication. For Capcom, it looks like Dante might make an appearance.
Let the speculation begin!
Take a look at the screenshots below. It has been revealed that these are the actual character models from the game and not just concept art. Pretty amazing!
