PS Store Updates moving to Tuesdays and Wednesdays in May

Submitted by on Monday, 19 April 20106 Comments

The PlayStation Store will no longer update on Thursdays starting in May.

You might have noticed something was up when Robert Bowling from Infinity Ward revealed that the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Pack hits the PSN on May 4th in NA and on the 5th in EU. Those two days happen to be a Tuesday and Wednesday.

An official announcement was made in last week’s edition of Pulse. At the end of the episode Christina Lee revealed that PS Store updates were moving to Tuesdays starting on May 4th in North America.

So what about Europe? According to Mike Kebby, the European PS Store updates are now scheduled for Wednesdays. It seems a bit odd that the days for NA and EU are different, but that’s just how it’s going to be.

This change was most likely made to be more competitive with services like Xbox Live. No longer would PSN users have to wait an extra day to play multiplatform games like Final Fight: Double Impact. In fact, if you’re in North America, you’ll actually get it a day earlier. Seems like a pretty good deal to us.
