Veteran staff exodus at Infinity Ward

Submitted by on Tuesday, 13 April 20102 Comments

Betrayal, accusations, hirings and firings.  No, this isn’t a plot for the latest soap opera, it’s what’s been happening over at Infinity Ward and Activision lately.

It seems some staff have had enough, and since West and Zampella’s exit several other key Infinity Ward staff have packed their bags – taking with them almost thirty years experience.

Hmm…we wonder where they might be heading.

Last week Todd Alderman – who was involved in Modern Warfare’s multiplayer and story – and lead software engineer Francesco Gigliotti said their goodbyes and walked off into the sunset, taking with them eight and seven years of experience respectively.  They have made no comment as to why they have left.

Earlier today Veteran programmer Jon Shiring announced his resignation via his Twitter account.  He had the following to say;

“After almost 6 years at Infinity Ward, I resigned today. I’m incredibly proud of everything we accomplished and I’m going to miss everyone.”

Modern Warfare 2 lead designer Mackey McCandlish has also upped and gone earlier today, announcing it via Facebook.  McCandlish was part of Infinity Ward for eight years.

So what’s your opinion on the matter?  Will the Modern Warfare franchise suffer?  Or will bringing in fresh blood reinvigorate it?
