Super Street Fighter IV’s free Tournament Mode DLC detailed and dated
The free Tournament Mode update for Super Street Fighter IV releases in June and allows Capcom to host official tournaments online.
It’s a Capcom overload today! Not only are there details on Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, but there’s some Super SFIV news to discuss as well.
The Tournament Mode update will allow players to form tournaments online with up to four or eight participants (you don’t even need to be one yourself). Capcom plans on hosting official tournaments and there will be a prize for winning. If you won a previous tournament you are required participate in the next tourney or you will be stripped of your trophy.
The host of a tournament has the ability to edit the roster and even save a replay of the entire event. You can also invite friends to tournaments and there will be special music that plays during the final match. A lot of works seems to have been put into this mode and it should be quite popular. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix had an online tournament mode and it was a lot of fun.
The Tournament Mode update will go live on June 15th. That’s not too long of a wait is it?
When Super SFIV launches next week, players will be able to play quarter matches and team battle matches online with up to eight players. You can also watch replays online and even invite friends to watch the videos with you. Definitely a neat feature.
