Ape Escape gets Q2-Q4 release window
The PS3 has been sadly lacking in Apes over the past few years. Sure we’ve had Super Monkey Ball characters in Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing, and that freaky little wrinkled cola addict from Metal Gear Solid 4 – but wouldn’t it be nice to have a whole game dedicated to them?
Well good news – the PS3 is set to be invaded!
The original – and arguably the best – Ape Escape game was released on the PS1 way back in 1999. You played as Spike, and your aim was to stop a group of time travelling monkeys from becoming Earths overlords and locking up all humans in an amusement park – oh the irony!
Since then the brand has become diluted – resulting in the Ape Escape Academy games, which where essentially mini game collections.
The new game will be controlled using the Move. No other information has been released about the game except for the projected Q2-Q4 2010 release window. We are thinking more Q4 to be honest.
We would love to see a full on return to form for the Ape Escape brand – however the Move support makes us wonder if it will be – yet again – a collection of mini games.
Ape Escape Academy 3 anyone? No – us neither.
