Bungie uncertain on lead platform for new IP

Submitted by on Wednesday, 12 May 20103 Comments

Over the past decade Bungie and Microsoft have been inseparable.  In Microsoft, Bungie found the perfect partner with limitless resources to fund their epic Halo brand.

So surely the 360 would be the automatic choice as lead console for their new IP?

It seems not, as Bungie has yet to decide.  In an interview with CVG, community boss Brian Jarrard had the following to say;

“We obviously have a very intimate relationship with the 360 – we’ve had a great partnership with Microsoft for ten years now and we continue to as we work on Reach, launch Reach and continue to support Reach together.

That relationship isn’t going to go away at all, but we’re certainly excited about the prospect of being able to share our new stories and universe with an even bigger audience and bring it to different devices and platforms and create new and interesting ways for our fans to engage.

It’s a little bit too early for us to say which console we’ll lead on. We’re going to exactly figure out what’s the right way to lead into our new universe and what’s the right way to extend it. It’s too early for me to say which console is going to be the first out of the gate.”

Now, it might sound biased but we hope that Bungie use the PS3 as lead console.  It’s well known that 360 to PS3 porting is a tricky task where the PS3 version usually suffers.  However, a PS3 port to 360 generally seems a much smoother affair, resulting in a happy Team Attitude.
