Deals of the Week – 28th May 2010

Submitted by on Friday, 28 May 2010One Comment

dotw Deals of the Week 28th May 2010Friday has come around again, so here we are with your weekly dose of deals!

As always we’ve got four deals for you today to close out the month of May, and as usual they are divided into two each for the United Kingdom and the United States.

After much searching online we think we’ve picked out the best deals on the best games that are available right now, but as always if you’ve spotted something better then the comments are open for you to share with the world.

United Kingdom

Uncharted 2 – £Uncharted2 Deals of the Week 28th May 201013.85

We usually avoid pre-order deals in these segments, but this deal is so astonishing that it would be criminal to miss it!

Uncharted 2, arguably the best game across all platforms for 2009, and perhaps even this whole generation, will be available next month on Platinum for the gob-smacking price of £13.85. Although this game needs no further introduction, it’s our job so we’ll do it anyway.

Uncharted 2 is a sequel to the fantastic original that made a huge impact in gaming. Many people thought that Naughty Dog could not better it, but they were proven wrong when this game released late last year.

It sees Nathan Drake as he seeks for new treasure left behind by the great Marco Polo. To some this hero may not be as well known as Sir Francis Drake, but it’s hard to deny that he leaves behind an even more thrilling adventure for Nathan. In fact the story for this adventure game is so compelling that it exceeds many Hollywood films!

Also featured for the first time is multiplayer that is almost as exciting as the main campaign, which is pretty good for developers unfamiliar with this feature.

So to conclude, if you do not own this game already, there is no better time to add it to your collection than right now by pre-ordering the platinum edition here.

Lost Planet 2 Deals of the Week 28th May 2010Lost Planet 2 – £19.85

Lost Planet 2 has only been out for just over 2 weeks, so to find it for the same price as a Platinum game already is absolutely incredible. Throw into the deal a snazzy free T-Shirt and free First Class delivery and you’ve definitely got a worthy deal of the week.

But what about the game itself?

Well one look at the game’s Metacritic score, a relatively lowly 68, tells you that Lost Planet 2 is hardly going to be challenging Uncharted 2 for its crown as the best 3rd person shooter on the system.

But equally the reviews aren’t uniformly negative, with scores ranging from the high 80s, right down to a damning 50.

The issue dividing the critics the most is the game’s focus on co-operative multi-player, with those who rated the game highly praising an enjoyable experience with friends and those who rated it poorly lamenting the woeful AI players and gimped single player mode.

In fact one look at the campaign mode and it is obvious that it has been constructed solely with a good co-operative experience in mind. The amount of teamwork required for instance is great fun with 3 friends, but would soon drive you loopy trying to accomplish anything with 3 useless bots.

So with single player MIA, can we still recommend this game? Well we here at Attitude Towers love a good co-op title and by all accounts this is a good co-op title. So if you’re looking for some fun with friends at a reasonable price, then look no further.

assassins creed 2 box Deals of the Week 28th May 2010Assassin’s Creed 2 – $23.54

Deal of the Week fanatics will recognise that we have already featured Assassin’s Creed 2 before, and while we try to feature a variety of games it’s also important to expose fantastic deals that can’t possibly be ignored.

This is definitely one of those deals. Assassin’s Creed was released last November to high critical reception taking many ‘Game of the Year’ awards along the way. To give a synopsis, the game is set in the near future, where you briefly play as Desmond Miles, an escapee from Abstergo Industries who players of the first game will remember was forced to use a machine called the Animus to relive the memories of his ancestor Altaïr.

Now after escaping, he jumps into the mark two version where he relives the memories of another ancestor named Ezio who lived in Italy during the late fifteenth century. In most of the game you play as Ezio as he grows up developing his skills to become an elite assassin.

But it doesn’t go all hunky dory as along the way members of his family and friends are hanged and so he rightfully seeks for revenge. Assassin’s Creed 2 allows you to explore many cities around Italy including Florence and Venice with many non-story driven activities to do such as races, assassinations and even feather collecting.

If that is not good enough for you, a couple of episodes of downloadable content have been released too, so there really is little excuse to miss out on this amazing offer.

MAG Deals of the Week 28th May 2010MAG – $34.99

Our regular readers may remember from our weekly MAG Monday pieces and two part review that we here at Attitude Towers very much enjoy a bit of MAG.

An in depth and rewarding online shooter that really stands out from the crowd due to its sheer scale, this title is definately deserving of your attention.

If you haven’t heard much about MAG here’s the low-down. An online-only FPS, MAG is able to provide simply massive battles with up to 256 players involved at any one time. Players are divided into 8 man squads, with 4 squads making up a platoon and 4 platoons making up a company.

It may sound complicated, but it really isn’t. The better you perform, the more experience points you gain. Gain enough and you can become a squad leader and begin to direct the battle through basic commands, such as setting waypoints and objectives for your squad to focus on capturing.

It is very difficult to explain, because there is scope enough for the game to be different things to different people. You can don your headset and work on moving up the command hierarchy if that is your thing, you can enjoy the various RPG elements and upgrade your kit, or you can just play it as a pure FPS and snipe people in the head. The game really lets you decide.

For what you get, the price is great on its own. But if you need more sweeteners then listen up. When you buy the game through the link below, Amazon will also be kind enough to reward you with $10 off a future game purchase and $5 off MP3 downloads.

If you’ve been following our advice every week, that is $10 of free MP3s you’ve collected so far to go with some great games. None too shabby.
