HBO arrives on the PlayStation Network
The partnership with HBO will see hit series such as True Blood, The Wire, Entourage and The Sopranos become available to PlayStation users. The PlayStation is the first console to offer content from HBO. Nice.
Peter Dille, senior vice president, marketing and PlayStation Network, SCEA, took the opportunity to highlight the growing media capabilities of the PSN:
“The HBO library of premium original content is a perfect example of how PS3 has become the most content rich entertainment platform in the living room, when you combine the iconic programming from HBO with the existing TV, film, live sports and original programming available on PlayStation Network, our customers have access to the content they want, when they want it, at home or on the go with the PSP.”
Henry McGee, president of HBO Home Entertainment, was also pleased to announce the partnership:
“We’re extremely pleased to offer our premium programming on Sony Computer Entertainment’s PS3 system, this premier gaming system will offer an exciting new way for consumers to purchase HBO’s award-winning programming.”
Here are some of programmes you will be able to enjoy:
- True Blood, seasons one and two
- Big Love, seasons one to three
- Entourage, seasons one and two
- Eastbound and Down, season one
There will be multiple seasons from the following:
- The Sopranos
- Sex and the City
- The Wire
- Da Ali G Show
- Curb Your Enthusiasm
- Flight of the Conchords
You can expect episodes from popular shows like True Blood to cost $1.99 while the rest will be $.99. Content will be updated on a weekly basis.
