Modern Warfare’s Stimulus Package breaks PSN records

Submitted by on Wednesday, 19 May 2010One Comment

Modern Warfare 2’s Stimulus Package contains five new multi-player maps, two of which have been reused from the first Modern Warfare, and it’s retailing at a pricey £10.99. This surely falls into the “I want, but not at that price” category. Right? We maybe not…

Infinity Ward are reporting that the Stimulus Package has received over a million downloads with the DLC going on to break PSN records for day 1 and week 1 download records.

The news was tweeted by Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward’s Creative Strategist,

“Thanks to the 1 Million+ @playstation users who helped the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package break day 1 & week 1 download records on PSN!”

The Stimulus Package has already broken records for Xbox Live by having over two and half million downloads for the DLC on its first week and by having over one million people download the maps on the day of its release.

There has been much criticism for the pricing of Modern Warfare and its DLC. However, the numbers show that Activision and Infinity Ward have arguably overseen the most successful launch in gaming history.
