Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – map pack 3 is on the way

Submitted by on Monday, 7 June 20104 Comments

EA has today announced that map pack 3 for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be available on June 9. The map pack will bring new modes to Nelson Bay and Laguna Alta.

The Squad Deathmatch mode is now available on Nelson bay, it will have four squads, of four players, going head-to-head in a battle to reach the kill-count limit. The team who takes control of the M3A3 Bradley will be the likely victor.

Squad Rush has been added to Laguna Alta. This mode puts a squad of four players against another squad of four players as they fight for control of the M-COM stations. The winning team will have to show tactical nouse as well as skill with a rifle.

EA has released a trailer which can be seen at the top of the page.

The map pack will be free to VIP users, these are the people who bought the game new. Users will have found a VIP voucher inside the box when they bought their game. Those who bought the game second hand will need to purchase the maps. It’s all part of EA’s new paywall strategy to make profit from second-hand purchases; all the profits currently made from second-hand games go to the store and developers/publishers get nothing.

It’s a controversial strategy but we at PS3 Attitude find it hard to fault EA, or any other developer, for wanting to make a profit from their games – especially as they have pumped millions into developing them.

If you have any thoughts on this new strategy or if you want to discuss the new map pack, please feel free to leave a comment below…
