Lawsuit filed against Square Enix and Sony over Final Fantasy XIII freezing
Daniel Wolf of San Diego, Californian, individually and on behalf of all similarly affected users, has filed a class action lawsuit against Square Enix and Sony for selling copies of Final Fantasy XIII which allegedly caused their “PS3 consoles to freeze and become totally and permanently inoperable.” The plaintiff is seeking more than $5 million in compensation.
According to the suit, both companies are refusing to take responsibility for the fault; Sony are said to blame the game while Square Enix say the fault lies with the system. As such, neither Sony or Square Enix is willing to recompense Wolf or the other injured parties.
The fault is called “bricking”, the lawsuit describes it as following:

The PDF of the lawsuit is available from here. It isn’t the only lawsuit which Sony has to worry about, they had a suit was filed against them for removing the ‘OtherOS’ feature in a recent update.
Are Sony and Square Enix the victims of opportunism or are they finally getting their just deserts? A verdict shall be reached in court.
