sir om nom nom e1275830010640 Lost Planet 2 getting patched up; Sir Om Nom Nom approvesThanks to fan feedback, Lost Planet 2 is getting an update that will fix many of the issues people had with the game.

We liked Lost Planet 2. It wasn’t all that it could have been, but it’s still fun to play. Just make sure you don’t play alone.

PS3 owners can expect the new version update on June 7th. The most important addition is the new checkpoint system. If your Battle Gauge runs out during a boss battle you no longer have to restart the entire chapter. Instead, you can continue at the beginning of the boss fight. This alone should please many gamers. However, there’s much more being included in this update.

Here are the full patch notes:

  • Respawning points are changed – e.g. the player can start from the beginning of the boss fight, rather than start the level from the beginning and so on.
    • Applies to the whole game.
  • The player’s attacking power has been strengthened.
    • This applies when the difficulty level is set at either Easy or Normal and when only one player starts the game.
  • The level of animations for the player being affected near by attack/explosion is lowered.
    • This applies when the difficulty level is set at either Easy or Normal and when only one player starts the game.
  • The level of damage to the player is lowered.
    • This applies when the difficulty level is set at either Easy or Normal and when only one player starts the game.
  • Harmonizer is adjusted to be more powerful.
    • This applies when the difficulty level is set at either Easy or Normal and when only one player starts the game.
  • The level of animations for the enemies being affected near by attack/explosion is increased.
    • This applies when the difficulty level is set at either Easy or Normal and when only one player starts the game.
  • Tip texts are added to the objects that require the B button action such as Data Posts.
    • Applies to the whole game.
  • Weapons’ parameters are adjusted – i.e. they became quite evenly balanced (not too strong, not too weak).
    • Applies to the whole game.
  • The speed of the player’s dash is increased.
    • Applies to the whole game.

This is great news. If you read our review, you’ll notice that we complained about the imbalanced weapons and sluggish movements. Obviously, we weren’t alone with those complaints. It’s nice to know that Capcom isn’t ignoring feedback. They could have easily just abandoned the game shortly after its release.

The Lost Planet 2 patch should be available on June 7th. We’ll let you know when it goes live. And no, that is not our Sir Om-Nom-Nom. We wish!
