Every PS3 finally sold at a profit
Up until now we have been buying their systems for less than it cost them to make it, proving how good value it really has been for us.
Of course they aren’t a charity as they easily make plenty of profit when we buy our games.
Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, spoke to IGN:
This year is the first time that we are able to cover the cost of the PlayStation 3. We aren’t making huge money from hardware, but we aren’t bleeding like we used to.
So does this mean another price cut is on the horizon? Unlikely, especially because Sony has been struggling to keep up with demand at the current price point! But there should be plenty of bundles this Christmas, including the $399 Move pack announced at E3.
