Alice: Madness Returns announced with trailer

Submitted by on Wednesday, 21 July 2010No Comment

Electronic Arts and Spice Horse Games have announced Alice: Madness Returns, a sequel to the 2000 PC classic American McGee’s Alice, which will be releasing on the PlayStation 3 next year.

The game is set eleven years after the original – which conveniently happens to be the same amount of time since the first game released – and sees the well known protagonist leaving an asylum but continue to suffer from “nightmarish visions”.

Alice is still struggling to cope with the trauma of losing her family to a fatal fire that led her to live in the asylum for over ten years. She takes a journey through the unnerving Wonderland to reveal the truth about her past and the cause of the fire that destroyed her life.

American McGee, Spicy Horse Games Co-Founder and Senior Creative Director had this to say:

Alice is a classic fiction, infinitely rich with memorable characters, places and experiences. Our approach to Alice: Madness Returns takes this colorful world and reinvents it with psychotic personalities and pervasive insanity. We can’t wait to share our vision with Alice in Wonderland fans and gamers around the world.

We first heard that a new game was due last year and we’re very happy to finally see the big reveal.

Given the epicness of the original, this game sounds like a possible 2011 hit title, especially after watching the teaser trailer seen above!
