dotw Deals of the Week 9th July 2010Deals of the Week is back for another week!

We love to see our readers happy which is why every week we feature four great PS3 game deals that deserve your attention.

Again two of these deals are dedicated to gamers in the United Kingdom, while the second two are for gamers in the United States.

But for the first time ever we are going the extra mile to you show you the best deals and that’s why at the bottom of the article you will also see a few other deals that you can’t ignore.

However if you still find any other good deals, we want to hear in the comments, and we promise to add them to the list!

United Kingdom

bioshock box Deals of the Week 9th July 2010Bioshock – £9.99

Last week we talked about Bioshock 2 that was and still is selling for only £14.99. Today we discuss its older brother.

Bioshock was a very successful title when it first launched for the Xbox 360 and PC. But by the time it finally arrived on the PS3 with a much discounted price, it failed to garner attention by many people.

This was because any gamers who were desperate to play it had already done so on other platforms, and the PS3 launch was surrounded by newer titles such as LittleBigPlanet.

But despite its lack of success on the platform, Bioshock thoroughly deserves to be in the game library of any FPS fan. Unlike most first-person shooters, Bioshock is very unique.

The game is played in Rapture, an underwater city in the 1960s, allowing you to explore an unknown environment that is full of surprises. But of course you’re not alone and despite your player’s wish to escape you must face the city’s demons.

The game’s story is extremely original and the unusual environment will keep your eyes open and looking in every corner.

Simply put, there is no other game like Bioshock, except for Bioshock 2. If you have played Bioshock 2 then we highly recommend paying the ten pounds to play the original as it will help clear the story for you and to fully enjoy the second game you will need to have played this one.

redfag box Deals of the Week 9th July 2010Red Faction: Guerrilla – £9.94

Put simply, Red Faction: Guerrilla is about blowing things to pieces. If that appeals to you, then there is little point in ready anymore of what we have to say about the game and instead click on ‘Buy Now’.

Guerrila an open-world third-person shooter on Mars, that has packed in a very lengthy and satisfying campaign. It centres around the concept of destroying environments such as buildings and towers with a collection of varying weapons including the useful sledgehammer.

The plot may be nothing special but essentially gameplay is king. It’s simple but most importantly fun that makes it an easy pick up and play title. Sometimes when you play a game you don’t care about the story and only what you can do on screen matters to you. Red Faction: Guerrilla is one of those games.

The excitement is also transferred into the online arena where it is very much the status quo. But Volition also adds stats, unlocks and various game modes that all centre on destruction of anything and everything. Although not as thrilling as the campaign, it still brings its own enjoyment.

Red Faction: Guerrilla doesn’t try to be something it isn’t, but was it certainly is, is an eye-catching, fun, different game that has to be played to be believed.

red dead box Deals of the Week 9th July 2010Red Dead Redemption – $44.99

As one of the biggest titles of the year, Red Dead Redemption has been a massive hit. With this new discounted price, there is even more reason to buy it.

Rockstar are known for their big hitters such as Grand Theft Auto, and this game is another one of those, with a Metacritic score of 95.

A common misconception is that this title is simply GTA but based in the Wild West, but it is far deeper than this. Red Dead Redemption is beyond any other open world formula and differs itself from any other title we know.

Along the way you will bump into a fantastic cast of characters, which is probably of no surprise as this is one corner Rockstar has always excelled in.

It has to be one of the best looking games of the year too, which is a challenge for any developer to push in an open-world format, even Rockstar.

The game is an absolute joy to explore at your own pace outside of the missions, especially when on a horse’s back.

In short, Red Dead Redemption is a title that may surprise people because of its awesomeness. If you’re a fan or not of open world games, this game should appeal to just about anyone.

UFC 2010 box art e1267511237967 Deals of the Week 9th July 2010UFC Undisputed 2010 – $39.99

This latest UFC Undisputed title was released only a few weeks ago but already you can get it for a knockout price – excuse the pun.

The game delivers an awesome presentation that in parts really makes us feel like we’re watching a real life show. The accompanying gameplay also has many layers to it but the complexity should carry a health warning: There is a large steep learning curve here as the title provides little guidance to new players. But once you get the hang of it we found it very fun and rewarding.

If you have never played UFC before you should not come in expecting WWE type gameplay. It’s important to look at it as if you have never played another fighting game before.

The campaign mode is very heavy and can steal a lot of your hours from you too. It is dominated by menus in places which is disappointing, but we found the mode as a whole very addictive once we had got the hang of its inner workings.

Despite its problems, UFC Undisputed 2010 is a challenging but fun title that fans of the real thing should enjoy playing.
