Mafia II demo coming next month
The demo will give gamers the opportunity to experience Empire Bay’s criminal underworld before Mafia II hits the stores in North America, August 24, Australia, 26, and the rest of the world, 27.
The game, developed by 2K Czech, is a murky crime thriller set the fictional Empire Bay in America. The game covers two decades: the 40s and 50s. The demo will focus on the latter era, “a time considered the ‘Birth of Cool’, and with it, rock ‘n’ roll, hot rods, and rebellious attitudes.”
You will play the ‘Buzzsaw’ level, where Vito Scaletta, along with his mates, Joe and Henry, are on a mission to take out “The Fat Man”, one of Empire Bay’s mob bosses. 2K Games promise that you’ll get to “experience the decadent and meticulously crafted atmosphere, intense shooting and driving gameplay, and character narrative in Mafia II.”
This isn’t the only Mafia II story that’s caught our attention this week, on Monday it was revealed that 2K Games will be creating DLC exclusively for the PlayStation 3. ‘The Betrayal of Jimmy’ will be available at launch for all PlayStation 3 owners that purchase the game new, but if you get the game second-hand you’ll have to cough up $8.99.
