Nexuiz announced for PSN; uses CryENGINE 3
IllFonic has licensed out CryTek’s CryENGINE 3 to power their latest downloadable title, Nexuiz. The Quake-like area FPS is already available as free ware for PCs but it will be making its way to consoles.
The game was well received when it hit the PC last year and with an updated console version coming soon, it’s sure to be a hit. Let’s not forget that it’s using the same engine that’s being used to develop Crysis 2 so we can expect some beautiful visuals.
“When we were strolling around GDC 2010’s floor we stopped by the Crytek booth. I watched someone show off a few features of CryENGINE 3. Right then and there, I knew I had to have it. It’s powerful, fast and easy to use,” said Kedhrin Gonzalez, Creative Director of IllFonic. “Crytek has been awesome to work with providing excellent support in a relationship that has really benefited us.”
Nexiuz will feature the usual multiplayer fanfare such as Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag. It will also feature a leveling system with mutators so you can create and share your own game types. In addition, a plethora of downloadable content will be made available after launch.
