First screenshots and concept art for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
On Tuesday we told you about Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the new RPG from 38 Studios being published by Electronic Arts; today we have some screenshots and concept art for you to drool over.
The pictures show the mysterious world of Amalur as being a dark place where magic, oversized weapons, beasts and skeletons are the norm. You wouldn’t expect anything less from a game being developed by Ken Rolston, would you? He is after all the man behind quintessential RPGs Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivions.
The magical world of Amalur has been created by the best-selling American Fantasy novelist R. A. Salvatore (Forgotten Realms, The DemonWars), and the visual style is credited to Canadian comic book artist Todd McFarlane (Spawn). McFarlane has clearly managed to transfer his dark and dynamic visual style into the game. It’s very striking.
Look out for the concept art featuring the crafting tables. You’ll spot “Project Mercury” written in the top left corner, that was codename given by 38 Studios for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. We kind prefer Project Mercury, it slips off the tongue much more smoothly.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is set to arrive in Autumn 2011.
