SOCOM 4 delayed till 2011
SOCOM 4 has been hyped up as one of Move’s biggest supported games for this year, but we now have some sad news.
Zipper has confirmed on their blog that the game will not make it before the year ends.
Jeremy Dunham, Ex-IGN employee and now Zipper’s Senior Community Manager broke the news and had this to say:
While we’re certainly aware that you’ve been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don’t want to take any shortcuts. Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we’re going to use our extra time to do just that.
Sony has since confirmed the news:
We can confirm that SOCOM 4 will be released in 2011. The team is focusing on additional features which will help to deliver the most compelling and immersive SOCOM experience yet. Please look out for further updates and announcements over the coming months.
This is likely to be a major blow to PlayStation Move this holiday season as the company are trying to target both the core and casual market at the same time. Perhaps by delaying the game, the company hope to ensure it becomes a ‘killer app’ for the controller.
