Angry Birds coming to the PlayStation Store
We’ve heard through the grapevine that the massive hit, Angry Birds, is heading to the PlayStation 3. Until now, the game has been available exclusively on the iPhone but the game’s developers, Rovio, have now decided to branch out to other platforms.
So what exactly is Angry Birds?
Angry Birds is a 2-D side scrolling game that pits birds against pigs. The pigs have stolen the birds’ eggs and the little birdies are less than amused.
You use the birds with a small slingshot to knock over structures that the pigs are hiding in, in an attempt to rid the smelly bastards from the planet.
There are many different kinds of birds to use and all of them have their own special ability such as exploding on contact, dropping eggs to cause even more destruction, and even transforming in to three smaller birds for maximum piggy carnage.
The game starts out with a very lax difficulty and ramps up to require extreme effort as the levels progress. It includes an unprecedented sixty-three different stages to climb through, so you can bet this is something that will keep you busy for a very long time.
We here at the Attitude Towers have taken Angry Birds through its paces long before this announcement and can guarantee this is something you should be excited about.
The only question now is what form of a game it will be and when it will be released. While the launch date is still a big question mark, we’re guessing this title will be launched as a ‘Mini’ since it’s also being planned for the PSP. We’ll take it any way we can get it but we’re optimistic that it will get the full-fledged PSN treatment, which we hope will include trophies.
Regardless of its price or brand, we feel certain it’s destined for success. In just over 6 months, Angry Birds has sold over 5 million copies on the iTunes Marketplace and should fit in well with all the other fantastic titles the PlayStation Store has to offer.
For those still unclear on what kind of game this is, we’ve included a short video to give you an idea. Take a peek and be sure to let us know just how excited you are about this new slice of gaming pie.
