Call of Duty: Black Ops gets a multiplayer trailer

Submitted by on Tuesday, 10 August 20102 Comments

CoD Black Ops Box Call of Duty: Black Ops gets a multiplayer trailerWe’ve been scratching our heads here at the Attitude Towers for the past few weeks wondering where the multiplayer details are for Call of Duty: Black Ops.  With a game that has such a following for the multiplayer aspect, you’d think Treyarch would be hyping it months and months before the game’s launch.

Finally today we got our first look at the action.  So will you like it?  Well, that depends on whether or not you liked the last Call of Duty game.

This new trailer lasts about 90 seconds but that was more than enough to get our whistles wet for the latest in the Call of Duty franchise.

The game appears to look and run a lot like Modern Warfare 2, which is not necessarily a bad thing depending on who you ask.  It seems to use a very familiar xp ranking system and appears to dole out the same kinds of awards and bonuses as the previous title.

What’s new in Black Ops is the kill streaks.  Sure, we had kill streaks in the last game but they appear to have some new perks this time around.  We see what appears to be a camera that can be placed and left behind, all the while giving you a perfect view of whatever you pointed it at via a small picture-in-picture display in the corner of the screen.

Also new is the ability to remotely drive around an RC car packed with explosives.  Whether you’re a fan of the game or not, you have to admit, that just looks like fun.

Last, we’ll finally be getting a file share system in Call of Duty.  This new feature should grant you the ability to record, save and edit your videos with the purpose of watching your greatest triumphs at a later date and maybe even sharing them with friends.

Call of Duty: Black Ops will be launching on November 9 of this year but the end of the video promises a full multiplayer reveal on September 1, so you can bet we’ll be back with more news at that time.
