GC10; new PS3 models with larger HDDs due by September
At GamesCom 2010, Sony announced two new PlayStation 3 models featuring larger hard disks, which are due to arrive by September. There will be a 160GB model which will be retailing at £249.99 / €299 and a larger 320GB model which will cost £284.99 / €349. Bargains.
Speaking during Sony’s Gamescom press conference, Andrew House, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, said that the move will allow the PlayStation 3 to “maintain leadership.” The move has clearly been made to remain competitive with Microsoft, who introduced a new slim 250GB model for their Xbox 360 recently, it currently retails at £199.99 / € 247.95. The smaller model will replace the 120GB model which is currently in circulation.
The 320GB model will come with a PlayStation Move starter kit, this includes the controller, the PlayStation Eye and a disk featuring nine demos.
If you haven’t got yourself a PlayStation 3 yet, then you have no excuse not to now. Let’s face it, you’re reading a dedicated PlayStation site so you must really want one really…
