GC10; MAG is getting Move support and a new beta
It was only briefly mentioned in the Sony conference at Gamescom, but was confirmed later on the game’s blog, that MAG will be getting Move support in the Autumn. Zipper promises that ‘Pinpoint accuracy and easy access to all of the game’s mechanics ensure that players of any type — be they hardened veterans or new recruits — can enjoy a shooting experience unlike any other’.
But that’s not all. It was also announced on the MAG blog that a new beta for several new features will be available to all existing MAG players next week.
The main feature of the beta is early access to an upcoming DLC mode called Escalation, which ‘offers three brand-new faction-neutral maps with never-before-seen environments that pit a total of 96 players from all three PMCs against each other simultaneously’. That’s right, players from Raven, SVER and Valor will all be playing on the same map and going after the same objectives, in what looks to be MAG’s most chaotic mode yet.
As well as the new mode and maps, a number of other features will also appear in the beta, including:
- a Clan Deploy function
- a brand new Skill tree system
- an in-game economy feature to purchase new weapons and gear
- nine all-new weapons
- multiple character slots
- even more changes and improvements that players need to discover on their own
Participating in the beta is as easy as downloading the client software, inserting your MAG disc, and signing into the beta client. The beta will be available to download from the PlayStation Store in next week’s update: 24th August for North America, and presumably 25th August for Europe. We’ve been big fans of MAG since it’s launch in January, and it’s great to see fantastic support like this, but according to Zipper, this is only the tip of the iceberg for the game’s future.
