FIFA 11 Cover e1281603971506 Landon Donovan joins Kaka and Vela on FIFA 11s NA coverLandon Donovan will be joining Real Madrid’s Kaka and Arsenal’s Carlos Vela on the cover for FIFA 11 in North America.

If you recall, it was Donovan who scored an amazing game-winning goal against Algeria in injury time to advance the United States into the Round of 16 of the 2010 World Cup. In 2009,  he was named Major League Soccer’s Most Valuable Player and  awarded the MLS Goal of the Year 2009. So far Donovan has scored 5 goals and 11 assists in his 2010 season, making him a worthy choice for the cover athlete.

Donovan is no stranger to the FIFA series as this is his third time appearing on the front cover. He has had previous appearances on FIFA 03 and FIFA 07.

“Landon is the most recognizable, popular and accomplished soccer player in the United States and he was at his best with the world watching during the 2010 FIFA World CupTM,” said Matt Bilbey, Vice President of Soccer, EA SPORTS. “After his FIFA World CupTM performance and the season he had with the Galaxy last year we felt he belonged back on the cover of FIFA Soccer 11.”

The latest iteration of FIFA boasts all-new features including Personality+, which sees individual abilities reflected in game, Pro Passing, where pass accuracy is determined by a gamer’s ability on the control pad, and player skill, situation and urgency on the pitch, and 360° Fight For Possession, which allows for true 360° freedom in ball control.

FIFA 11 is due out September 28 in North America and October 1 in Europe.
